Pizza Bread

• ADD TO COOKBOOK
Saturday afternoon we crank up the bread maker for pizza dough. Making pizza bread is a part of the kids’ family game night ritual at our house. I make a plate of fresh veggies to go with the pizza bread and pull a 2 liter of Coke from the fridge.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 loaf fresh pizza dough or frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 1/2 lb sliced deli pepperoni
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • Butter or margarine, melted
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt
  • Oregano
  • PREPARATION

Preheat oven to 350˚F. Mix grated cheese and eggs. Sprinkle mixture with garlic powder, salt, pepper and oregano. Set aside. Split thawed dough in half. Roll out dough in a rectangle on an oiled board. Brush with butter.

Brush dough with Parmesan cheese mixture, keeping it away from edges. Place pepperoni on dough, overlapping pieces; cover completely. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top of pepperoni; do not put cheese too close to edges. Roll dough up as tightly as possible. Seal all edges, using toothpicks to hold together if necessary. Repeat with second portion of dough. Brush remaining cheese mixture on top of the loaves; place on cookie sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
